I believe that journalism's best days are ahead of it, not behind it. For all journalists have accomplished without interactive tools, there's no telling what they'll accomplish with them.
I'm humbled to play a small part pioneering these tools as a social media journalist and future of news blogger.
One of 36 members of Elon University's inaugural Interactive Media master's class, I joined the audience engagement team at my hometown newspaper, The Baltimore Sun, in Sept. 2010.
A print journalist by training, I covered education, crime and municipal government as a reporter for the Daily Freeman of Kingston, N.Y., and The Gazette of Laurel, Md., where I also copy edited. I earned a bachelor's in Journalism from Elon University in 2004.
